SIN- is the intentional transgression of divine (religious) law.
ADDICTION - loss of control, or compulsive practice of behavior, which goes against the addict's own life and/or the lives of others.
The apostle Paul warned: “They are full of all wickedness, evil, greed, vice, jealousy, murder, strife, lying, malice, and slander” (Romans 1:29).
Addiction is always a sin, but not every sin is an addiction. When we commit a sin and then repent, ask God for forgiveness and stop doing it... that sin does not become an addiction.
When we become addicted, to whatever it may be, we place the object (physical or immaterial) of the addiction above the Lord and transgress the most important commandment of the relationship with the Divine:
And Jesus said unto him, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. (Matthew 22:37;38).
IS EATING A SIN?
“For the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17).
Eating is not a sin, but rather a physiological need for humans and animals. But when we eat compulsively, without control and beyond what we need for our sustenance, eating becomes an addiction and we begin to sin: going against life, damaging our health (killing ourselves) and, consequently, going against God's law.
MAY GOD HAVE MERCY AND BLESS US!
