Some atheists can be compared to a soccer player who was sent off at the beginning of a match. He feels wronged and does everything he can to avoid leaving the match alone... he keeps provoking the opposing players to see if anyone responds to his provocations and is sent off with him.
Most of the time this tactic is ineffective, as is the fact that the referee never cancels the card shown.
Fortunately, in this comparison, God does not act like the referee: if you recognize your mistake, your failure, your infraction, repent and ask for forgiveness... God will cancel your red card, He will accept you with open arms.
Because mercy is one of the greatest qualities of the Creator of all things: “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)”, Ephesians 2:4,5.
