Anxiety - emotion related to restless/worrying behavior and inner agitation (of the soul, of the spirit); anticipated feeling of fear, apprehension and alert in the face of a threat that is not yet real or perceptible; expectation that something bad will happen.
Anxiety is considered the illness of the century and the main gateway to serious psychological disorders, such as depression and panic syndrome.
Jesus Christ, in the Sermon on the Mount, warns us: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34).
ARE YOU ANXIOUS?
Take a look at some of our everyday practices, sometimes discreet and insignificant, but which can be signs of anxiety:
1st) Tearing a supermarket bag instead of untying it;
2nd) Release the seat belt before the vehicle stops;
3rd) Deliver birthday gifts before the date;
4th) Cook by tasting the food from time to time;
5th) Ask about the ending of the film you are watching;
6th) Parking in the wrong direction;
7th) Doing more than one activity at the same time, such as eating and watching television or using a cell phone;
8th) Hold back the urge to go to the bathroom;
9th) Honk at the driver in front, before the light turns green;
10th) Picking at body parts- biting nails and pulling hair.
